Our Guide to the Top 10 Crepes in Paris

Forget the fussy fine dining for a night and grab one of the top crepes in Paris

Crepes and galettes may be a speciality of Brittany, however, over the years skilled chefs have brought the humble comfort dish to Paris and it’s been a favourite ever since. If you wander through the French capital - and particularly through the Montparnasse neighbourhood - you’re likely to stumble upon the top crepes in Paris that’ll please everybody in the family. (Yes, even your children.) Here’s where to grab the best crepes in Paris below...

Mad Eo

Everything about this modern establishment screams quality, from the carefully sourced organic ingredients to effortlessly chic interiors. This vegan-friendly spot in the third arrondissement is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood and proudly boasts its Breizh heritage, filled with delights such as cider jam, andouille sausages and endless cheese.

Bretons

The queue outside this laidback joint is a sure sign that the crepes go down a treat here. With a range of roughly twenty different savoury and sweet crepes, choosing is the hardest part. That said, the strawberry crepe served with a healthy helping of apricot ice cream really hits the spot.

Josselin

If you happen to be in the hip Montparnasse neighbourhood, this Paris creperie is a great shout for an affordable snack. Always in demand, its menu boasts some of the top crepes in Paris whether you’re looking for a savoury double-stacked galette or a sweet Crepe de Froment packed chocolates, bananas, ice cream and whipped cream. If you’ve got children, there won’t be any complaints here.

La Creperie Bretonne

Just a stone’s throw from the Montparnasse Tower, this famous neighbourhood spot serves up some of the best crepes in Paris. With a wide range of options including camembert, flambe and ice cream, it’s easy to find something you’ll fall in love with at their cosy space. Plus, they cater well to those with dietary requirements.

Breizh Cafe

For a meal that tastes absolutely incredible and won’t break the bank, Breizh Cafe is a great shout. Each galette here is made with artisan butter from Jean-Yves Bordier, quality buckwheat flour and impeccable ingredients - taking the simple crepe to the next level. Renowned for their smoked herring crepe with roe and goat’s cheese classic, a meal here will absolutely hit the spot.

Krugen

This utterly Instagram-able Paris creperie attracts a young hip crowd, serving up Breton classics with a twist. Ideal for a lazy weekend brunch, it’s one of the capital’s best-kept secrets and many of their ingredients come directly from Brittany so you know it’s good quality. Serving up gluten-free galettes, you’ll find sausages, potatoes, cheeses of all kinds and more folded into their creations.

West Country Girl

Nothing beats a classic and West Country Girl serves up some of the best. If you’re not about the bells and whistles and just really want a really good crepe, this 11th arrondissement establishment is a great shout. Famed for its apple crepes which come drizzled with the house caramel sauce, you might need to order not just one but two.

Princess Crepe

If you’re craving something other than Parisian fare, Princess Crepe serves up Japanese-style crepes that are a long way away from the galettes down the road. The store itself is an experience - cutesy, pink and over the top - and the insane combinations would shock the Parisian crepe purist. Anybody up for a crepe filled with Nutella, strawberries and an entire slab of cheesecake?

La Crepitante

If you’re planning on taking on the Oberkampf nightlife, make a pit stop at La Crepitante first to stock up on carbs for the night. This nondescript creperie won’t break the bank and yet give the bigger, pricer joins a good run for their money with decadent specialities including scallops, andouille sausage, mustard and cognac sauce and more.

Creperie de Plougastel

Another Montparnasse joy, this deeply Breton restaurant not only serves up some of the best crepes in Paris - it also starred in an episode of Twin Peaks. This beloved neighbourhood institution has been going since 1972 and is particular about sourcing its goods from Breton, the land of the galette. From roast beef specialities to chatilly cream-filled crepes, you’ll want to save space for more than one helping.
