Here are our five favourite things to do in Paris at night;
Paris is one of the capitals of jazz, complete with its cobbled streets, mysterious venues and an undercurrent of untouchable Parisian cool there’s no better place that to have an aperitif that listening to some live music. There are many jazz clubs across the city that everyone should try and visit at least once. From experimental jazz musicians to international artists, you can find it all. We recommend Sunside/Sunset in Châtelet, or Au Duc des Lombards just down the road, or jazz up your dinner with a show at Atelier de Charonne.
Watch a Cabaret
Cabaret is an after-dark institution in Paris that dates back to 1881 with the opening of Le Chat Noir in Monmartre. From then it’s become an infamous tradition. The Lido is one such place to celebrate this tradition, dating back to the early 1900s. Now there’s a fun packed schedule of exciting entertainment all year round. 116Bis Avenue des Champs-Élysées, 75008
Catch a sunset
Montparnasse Tower is the one and only skyscraper in Paris and boasts the highest views over the city from the 56th floor observation deck at 689ft high. Promising panoramic vistas across the city, head up just before sunset and watch the sun dip below the horizon as the city illuminates after dark… Certainly one of the best things to do in Paris at night! 33 avenue du Main F, Paris 75015
Dine on an island
One of the most romantic places in Paris is on I’lle Saint-Louis, one of the founding islands of Paris. Now they are some of the most romantic spots where you can sit on a candle-lit table on a picture-perfect street, dine on traditional French cuisine and enjoy a real ‘Paris’ experience. Sit back and admire the beauty of historic Paris in the dark, lit only by street lamps… C’est magnifique!
Late night Museums
If you like to take your time and avoid the crowds when sightseeing, visit Paris’ best museums after dark and take in the masterpieces of some of the most popular museums and galleries in Paris. The Louvre is open until 9.45pm every Friday, and others like the Orsay Museum and Centre Pompidou stay open until 9pm, too. It’s a really peaceful way to experience Paris’ art history and heritage. Check before visiting to avoid disappointment.
Pack your swimsuits and head for the Latin Quarter for some midnight swimming. Right in the heart of Paris in the 5th arrondissement take a dip in a stunning Art Deco public swimming pool that not many know about… This hidden gem is illuminated with blue lights and even comes with vintage changing areas. Do your laps along to a soothing soundtrack and you’ll never want to get out! By far one of the most unique things to do in Paris at night. Piscine Pontoise, 19 rue de Pontoise, Quartier Latin, 75005
