Paris, mon amour!

There’s no better place to celebrate Valentine’s Day than in the city of love itself. If you’re lucky enough to be spending the most romantic day of the year in Paris, then you’ve done well already! It’s no secret or surprise why Paris is one of the most popular destinations for this time of year, so here’s your very own Valentine’s Day itinerary for you and your loved one to enjoy the 14th February. 9am – 12pm Start your day up in Montmartre, the highest summit of the city. There’s no place like it in the Paris, it is its own little town high up on the hill and a must-go if you want polished quirkiness. Once home to some of the most brilliant artists of all time, the streets are lined with independent boutiques, cafes, patisseries and restaurants – perfect for a spot of brunch to start your day. You can’t leave the area without visiting the oh-so-romantic Wall of I Love Yous in all languages of the world. It’s a lovely way to start your Valentine’s Day tour, and a definite selfie-worthy opportunity. Don’t miss out the Sacré Coeur and its breath-taking views over Paris before you move on, either. 12pm – 3pm Head down into the area below Montmartre, to Boulevard de Clichey specifically, where you’ll find the famous Moulin Rouge and its modern equivalent seedy XXX shops. Potentially something for the younger, more adventurous crowd, but worth browsing while you’re there! Next stop is the Musée Maillol, one of the lesser known Paris museums, to continue the naughtiness a little longer. Their current exhibition is Kissing in the Arts which looks at the presentation of kissing in art throughout the ages, from the Renaissance to the present day. So get ready to pucker up, it’ll get you in the mood! 3pm – 6pm Cross over the (cliché but cool) Pont des Arts, believed to be the most romantic bridge in Paris because of its love locks. Technically now you’re not allowed to lock your own as the bridge is actually sinking under the weight of them... Despite this, it makes for a lovely photo nonetheless! Another must on your romantic tour, which coincides nicely with a mid-afternoon pick me up, is sampling one of the city’s finest macaroons. The great debate is whether Ladurée or Pierre Hermé are the best in town, so why not try both and make your mind up yourself. Make sure you allow room for dinner though, as a candle lit meal is a must. 6pm – Late You can’t beat a Parisian sunset over the River Seine on Valentine’s Day. But what’s even better is a romantic river cruise with Bateaux Parisiens, who are offering three exclusive packages for you to choose from – all including champagne, a well know aphrodisiac! So put on your glad rags and enjoy a slap up experience starting at the iconic Eiffel Tower and winding down past Notre Dame and the Musee Orsay, some of Paris’ most famous landmarks. Once you’re back on dry land Paris has plenty of Valentine’s Day options to take you through the night – including Anti-Valentine’s ones at that if you’re championing the single life! We recommend a cabaret show at the Lido for some late night titillation (pardon the pun).
